Candidate Forums This Weekend

Two upcoming events are meant to inspire voters to participate in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
On Sunday, a forum will be held in Wapiti to allow voters to hear more about the candidates for representative of House District 24, as well as the ten candidates vying for the three open seats on the Park County Commission. The forum will be held at the elementary school in Wapiti at 2 p.m.
Then on Monday, Park County residents are invited to a nonpartisan event intended to encourage political participation at both the local and national level.
The free event, titled “Engage,” will feature multiple speakers and a variety of topics, and will be held Monday at 5:45 p.m. in the Grizzly Room at the Cody Library. This event is being sponsored by Wyoming Rising-Northwest, a non-profit, non-partisan group that has organized several events in the last two years aimed at raising the profile of social issues.
Speakers at the Engage event will include Cody Mayor Matt Hall, School Board Member Tom Keegan, and Park County Clerk Colleen Renner, among others. Organizers say that the purpose of the event is to encourage young people in particular to become involved in the election process.
