Charity Motorcycle Ride Arriving in Cody Today

Written by on May 15, 2017

Sports legends will be riding into Cody today as part of a charity motorcycle ride.

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is en route to Wyoming today, scheduled to arrive late this afternoon. Fans are welcome to gather in the parking lot in front of the Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn to meet and greet Kyle, his father Richard, and other sports legends who are taking part in the weeklong, 2,400-mile route to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

Petty says that the purpose of the ride is for one cause, and that is to send chronically ill children to camp at Victory Junction at no cost to their families.

Petty began this charity event in 1995. This year, more than 20 first-time riders will join the team of men and women riding for the cause. Celebrities on the ride include NASCAR legends Harry Gant, Hershel McGriff and Donnie Allison, former NFL great Herschel Walker and Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl champion George Rogers, NBC Sports NASCAR personality Rick Allen, and Harley-Davidson Museum president, Bill Davidson.

Local fans are recommended to arrive today by 4:45 to meet and greet the stars. They can also get a chance to visit tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., before the riders head to their next destination in the Black Hills.
