City Considering Electric Rate Changes

The public is invited to let the Cody City Council know their thoughts on the City’s plans to change electric rates.
The Council will consider the rate changes at their regular meeting this upcoming Tuesday at 7 P.M. An amended ordinance with a new electric rate schedule has already passed on first and second readings. If the council approves changes on third and final reading, the new rates will go into effect October 1.
The proposed changes will increase the city’s electrical fund revenue by 6 percent over three years. City officials say the increased dollars will cover inflation, increased maintenance and operating costs and planned capital projects.
The way the rates are structured, smaller residential users will see a decrease in their monthly bill, larger users typically will see an increase, and average users will not be greatly impacted.
