Cody Athletics Weekend Roundup

The Cody Filly Volleyball team was in action over the weekend with a long road trip to Evanston and Green River.
The Fillies would come away with a weekend split falling to Evanston on Friday 3 games to 0. On Saturday, Cody would bounce back with a 3 game sweep of Green River.
Following the weekend’s action the Fillies sit at 9-6 on the season.
Up next: The Fillies are back in action Tuesday, on the road to face conference foe Natrona County. Game time underway at 4pm.
On Friday the Cody Cross Country teams took part in their final meet of the regular season as they competed in the Powell Invite.
Riley Smith and Ava Stafford led the way for the Fillies finishing first and second individually. The Fillies would take home first place as a team with three top ten finishers.
The Broncs would come in 4th place as a team at the Powell invite with David Juergens leading the way, finishing 7th place individually.

It was a record breaking weekend for Filly Swimmer Tara Joyce. Tara broke Cody’s team record in the 500 freestyle and also broke the Wyoming 3A State Record in the 500 Free set by Buffalo swimmer Katie Peck in 1998 which was a 5:17.92.
The Fillies as a team came home with a 1st place finish at the Buffalo Tri over the weekend. Prior to that they knocked off Worland in a head-to-head duel.
The Filly swimmers have just two meets remaining in the regular season. They’re at Worland and Green River next weekend.
Over on the Ice. The Yellowstone Quake hosted the Gillette Wild for their home opener over the weekend.
The Quake would pick up their first win of the season on Friday defeating Gillette by a score of 7-5.
Gillette would bounce back on Saturday downing the Quake 10-4.
Following the weekend’s face-off the Quake are 1-4 on the season.
