Cody B-ball Shows Grit, Toughness Vs. Jackson, Star Valley

The Cody Basketball teams returned to action for a pair of contests as they traveled donw south for games at Jackson and Star Valley.

The Fillies would go 2-0 over the weekend.

The Broncs would go 1-1 but played their best weekend of the season.

Starting with a look at the Fillies who came away with another weekend sweep.

The Fillies would down Star Valley, on Friday, by a final of 55-30. On Saturday, they defeated Jackson 81-12.

The 81 points vs. Jackson is a season high for Cody. In the contest Ellie Talich would notch a career high 12 points. Molly Hays finished with 28 points, 1-shy of her career high. 

The Fillies have now won 35 straight regular season contests, dating back to the 2020-2021 season.

The Fillies are 13-0 this season.

As for the Broncs, they would fall, in heartbreaking fashion to Star Valley, on Friday, by a final of 53-51.

The Broncs would show grit, determination and as coach McCarten said “they played like a family.”

Kam Niemann would put up a career high, 23 points, in the loss.

On Saturday, the Broncs put together arguably their best game of the season, downing the No. 4 team in the state, Jackson by a final of 58-48.

Luke Talich had his coming out party, downing 20 points, the majority of that coming in the 2nd half.

Wilkins Radakovich tallied a solid 14 points but it was his defense on Jackson’s Andrew Hanna that was truly impressive. Hanna is regarded as the best post player in the state and while he had a team high 17, Radakovich never let him feel comfortable or take over.

Following the weekend’s action the Broncs are now 5-8 on the year.

Both Cody Basketball teams return to action for a busy week as each team plays 3 games.

Tuesday, both teams play Natrona County in Casper, Girls at 3:30, boys to follow.

Friday, both teams host Evanston. Girls at 5:30, boys to follow.

Saturday, both teams play host to Green River. Girls at 2pm, boys to follow.

All those games will be broadcast live on KODI.
