Cody Basketball, Cody Athletics Weekend Outlook
Written by Cole Havens on February 1, 2023
Both the Cody Basketball teams will embark on their longest road trip of the season as they travel down to face Star Valley and Jackson this weekend. For the Fillies, it’s been quite the season. They stand at 11-0 on the year and show no signs of slowing down. This weekend will present a nice challenge for the girls as their mental toughness will be on display against two 4A Southwest opponents. To get ready for all the action I caught up with Fillies Head Coach Chris Wagner for a little 1-on-1.
As for the Broncs, they enter this weekend’s contests sitting at 4-7 on the season and this will be another good test this weekend as both the Braves and other Broncs sport solid teams. Star Valley sits just outside the top 5 in the latest Wyopreps poll while Jackson is the No. 4 team in the rankings.
The Cody Broncs and Fillies travel down South for a match-up with Star Valley and Jackson this weekend. All the action will be broadcast live on KODI. Friday’s action will get underway with the girls to face Star Valley at 6pm and the boys to follow. Catch the pregame at about 5:40. On Saturday, both teams face Jackson with the girls at 1pm with the boys to follow. Pregame at 12:40.
In some other Cody basketball action. The Cody Basketball games vs. Natrona County have been re-scheduled… again. Both the Broncs and Fillies will now play Casper Natrona next Tuesday, February 7th in Casper.
These games are in place of the games that have been postponed twice and initially were scheduled to be played in Cody.
According to Cody Athletics Director Tony Hult: The girls varsity and boys jv games will be played at 3:30, followed by the boys varsity and girls jv games at 5:00.
Cody and Natrona have agreed to play the games in Casper and they agreed to come to Cody next year.
Speaking of Cody athletics, let’s take a look at the rest of the teams that will be in action this week.
It’s hard to believe but one high school sport here in the Cowboy State will be starting post-season play this weekend. The Cody Broncs and area swim teams will be participating in their respective Regional Tournament. The Broncs will be in Worland for the 3A East Swim meet Friday and Saturday.
The Cody Wrestling teams will play host to a pair of duals to close out the week. Thursday, they play host to Riverton. Friday, they host Worland. Both duals are scheduled for a 5pm start time.
The Cody Indoor Track teams will be back in action this weekend as well as they trek over to Gillette for the Basin Nation Invite. All the action takes place at the Campbell County Rec Center Field house.
And it sounds like the Nordic Ski meet that was supposed to take place last week in Casper is a go for this weekend. That means Cody will be back in action for the 7.5K Classic on Friday and the 7.5K Mass Start Skate on Saturday.
