Cody Cubs Split with Billings in Tuesday Night Matinee
Written by Cole Havens on June 7, 2022
The Cody Cubs were back in action Tuesday night for another twin bill as they played host to the Billings Cardinals.
Jace Jarrett would take to the mound in game 1, tossing 7 innings of 5 hit ball, walked 1 and struck out 3 as the Cubs shutout the Cards 5-0.
The Cubs would plate 2 in the second as Dominic Phillips lead off their half of the inning with a double and was brought home by Wyatt Carlson, who hit a double of his own.
Cody got 1 more across in the 3rd, scored 1 in the 4th and added some insurance in the 5th.
Phillips and Trey Schroeder would collect a pair of hits each in the contest.
In game 2, the Billings Cardinals used a 5-run 5th to power past Cody by a final of 10-4.
Jackson Schroeder would clobber his 5th Home Run of the season in the nightcap but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 8 straight runs by the Cardinals in the middle of the game.
William Duke pitched a strong 3.1 innings in game 2, giving up 6 hits, 3 runs (all earned) and struck out 1.
Following the Tuesday night split the Cubs are now 11-5 on the season.
Up Next: Cody heads up to Three Forks, Mont., this weekend, for the Gallatin Valley Tournament.
