Cody Cupboard Drive This Saturday

Written by on November 1, 2017

The annual Cody Cupboard Food Drive happens this Saturday, and volunteers from the organization are asking residents to be prepared for knocks on doors.
Terry Gail, chairman of the board of directors for the organization, says that individuals, youth clubs and other organizations will be blanketing the community Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. asking for donations of non-perishable, but not outdated, food and other necessities.

Gail says that last year, Cody Cupboard shelves were filled with over 34,500 pounds of donated food, and said they served almost 1500 households which were in need of food assistance last year.
He added that there are at least 50 volunteers from the community who staff the Cupboard, located on 15th street near the Senior Center. And anyone is welcome to assist with the food drive this weekend – Gail says anyone who wants to help can just show up at the Cody Auditorium between 10 and 2 and they will be put to work sorting, weighing and transporting items that the door to door volunteers bring in.
Additionally, residents can help by having food ready to give to the volunteers who are canvassing the neighborhoods.
