A Cody Psychiatrist who specializes in drug and alcohol addiction has himself been arrested for driving while under the influence of inhalants.
Dr. Matt Hopkins, a 49 year old Cody resident, was arrested last week after a head on collision with a pickup in front of the Sunset House restaurant. According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Cody Police Officer Blake Stinson, a can of “dust-off” was found in the vehicle, and the officer reports that Hopkins was passed out when he hit the oncoming vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, Jamie Bunker, was hospitalized for injuries received in the crash.
This is the second arrest for Hopkins, who was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in November of last year, after hitting a parked car in the Walgreens parking lot and driving away. Law Enforcement arrested him when they found a mostly empty vodka bottle in his vehicle, which was parked at his home after the incident. Records show he recorded a .10 blood alcohol level at the time of that arrest, which is over the legal limit of .08.
Hopkins is scheduled to appear in Park County Circuit Court tomorrow for a preliminary hearing.
