Cody Middle School is getting some new tech thanks to a state grant.
For a second consecutive year, the middle school as received a grant from the Wyoming Trust Fund. The Fund is used to further technology advancement and purchase equipment to be used by students in the classroom. Cody Middle School received around $33 thousand dollars in the 2018-2019 school year. This was used for the purchase of laptops, 3D printers, and a computer numerical control, or CNC machine, which employs computers and machines to create custom designed parts. In a world of increasing technological sophistication, this will give our middle schoolers a head-start on learning and creating with such tech.
For the 2019-2020 school year, the Wyoming Trust Fund granted Cody Middle School $20,348.09 for a number of upgrades to the school’s Computer Science Lab. That money will be used to purchase:
- 5 Upgrade Mac Desktops, which are capable of handling extremely high-quality video production and 3D graphics rendering.
- A Stereolithography High Resolution 3D printer capable of printing very fine resolution 3D objects.
- An assortment of Video and Audio Production Equipment.
While the School is ecstatic about the additional grant, the full amount to purchase this equipment was not awarded. The Cody Middle School will be matching the Wyoming Trust Fund grant, and provide an additional $7300 to complete the purchase.
