Cody & the Beck Lake Challenge: A Walk for Mental Health Awareness
Written by Caleb Nelson on June 9, 2022
This Saturday, June 11th, there will be a “Walk for Mental Health Awareness” sponsored by the Cody Medical Foundation.
According to the Cody Medical Foundation website, the purpose of the event is to gather “in one place and doing something to challenge ourselves.” The Foundation hopes the event will “promote understanding and acceptance of mental illness and increase mental wellness. YOUR PACE, YOUR DISTANCE.”
Folks are encouraged to walk, run, dance, rollerblade, and bike during the event. Pets are welcome too. Registration is currently open online. Admission for adults is $10, and children (under 12) cost $5.
Amenities for the Mental Health Awareness Walk include: goodie bags (guaranteed to the first 150 participants registered), additional prizes, and lunch will be provided (it is recommended to bring a blanket or a chair).
Registration runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Beck Lake shop. During this time folks can pick up their goodie bags, stretch, and collect information about the Mental Health Awareness Resources available in the Big Horn Basin. Additionally, Park County Animal Shelter encourages people to come out and meet some “happy tails” and “vote on your favorite pet costume.”
The walk starts promptly at 10:00 a.m. Event sponsors include Best Western Premier, Lions International, Christ Episcopal Church, Shoshone Recreation District, and the Chamberlin Inn.
