Cody Woman Arrested As Accessory in Car Theft

Written by on February 28, 2017

A woman who was recently in the news for her arrest on counterfeiting charges has been arrested once again – this time for accessory before the fact in the commission of a felony.

29 year old Chelsea Hensley of Cody was arrested last week on charges that she assisted an unidentified man in stealing a car from the airport on Wednesday.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Cody Police Officer Josh Van Auken, Hensley and the unidentified male attempted to rent a car, but were denied because she could only offer a prepaid credit card as payment. Soon after, she returned, and according to the affidavit, began flirting with the rental car counter attendant. While she was doing this, the unidentified male went out to the rental return vehicle area of the parking lot and made off with a recently returned Toyota Camry that still had the keys inside.

The vehicle was later located at Trapper Village in Powell and was recovered.

Hensley was arrested in January on three counts of passing counterfeit bills, and is currently awaiting court hearings for those incidents. Additionally, there is an ongoing felony burglary case pending from 2015, in which Hensley is accused of breaking into a house and attempting to steal prescription medication.

Hensley is scheduled to appear in Park County Circuit Court on March 3rd for a preliminary hearing on these most recent charges.
