Conference Opens For Warrior Basketball

The Warriors are 7-3 as they begin Conference play this weekend at home.

After losing 3 of their first 4 games the Warriors have now won 6 straight including a Big Horn Classic Championship, a tournament that saw the Warriors beat their opponents by an average of 26 points.

Friday night the Warriors host the 5-5 Lovell Bulldogs.

Lovells wins are against a 4-11 Burns team, 3-5 Cody just one day after Cody upset Worland, the Broncs are 3-5, a 6-7 Wyoming Indian, Wyoming 2A number 4 ranked Wind River and a 1-8 Riverside team.

The combined record of the teams Lovell has beaten is 17-48.

The Bulldog’s losses have come from Wyoming 2A number 1 ranked Tongue River 62-58, Wyoming 3A number 1 ranked Douglas 59-41, a 3-11 Wheatland team, Rocky Mountain who is 6-6, 47-38, and the Wyoming 3A number 2 ranked Worland Warriors 56-39.

Lovell has the 9th-ranked scoring offense in Wyoming 3A Basketball averaging 53.2 points per game with a 39.7% field goal percentage which is 8th in 3A.

Defensively the Bulldogs are ranked 13th in rebounds at 25.2 per game allowing their opponents 34.3 rebounds per game for a negative 9.2 per game.

Total team defense Lovell allows 48.6 points per game ranked 6th overall in Wyoming 3A.

Lovell is led in scoring by number 23 Parker Anderson with 71 points this season averaging 11.8 per game Anderson also leads the team in rebounds with 37 for a 6.2 average per game.

Carter Lundberg has 66 points averaging 11.3 per game, he also leads the team in steals with 13 and assists with 6.

Owen Walker has 9 points per game and 1.5 blocks per game.

Saturday the Warriors will host Wyoming 3A number 4 ranked Powell at 4:00 pm.

Powell is 5-3 this season with losses to an 8-5 Laramie 61-57 in Overtime, a loss to a 6-5 Pinedale 58-55, and a loss to Wyoming 3A number 3 ranked Lander 54-48 at home in the Big Horn Classic.

The Panthers’ wins come against Lander in their first game of the season 67-61, Cody 51-49, Rocky Mountain 66-38, Number 5 2A Greybull who is 7-4, 68-29, Number 2 1A Burlington who is 10-3, 64-38.

Powell has the number 2 ranked scoring offense in Wyoming 3A Basketball averaging 59.5 points per game, they have the 7th ranked shooting percentage with 40.4% per game.

Defensively the Panthers are ranked 5th overall allowing 48.5 points per game, on the boards Powell averages 31.9 per game ranked 3rd in 3A.

The Panthers are led in scoring by number 4 Brock Johnson with 14 points per game, 6th in the West Conference, Johnson is 30 for 65 from the field for 46% and leads the team in steals with 28, along with 24 steals, also leading the team in rebounds with 6.4 per game.

Gunner Erickson has made 10 3-pointers shooting 46 for 22%, he is second in scoring for the Panthers with 13.5 per game.

Jhett Schwahn is 3rd in Wyoming 3A Basketball in Assists with 3.3 assists per game.

The Warriors are ranked 5th in team scoring averaging 57.3 points per game, they shoot 41.5% from the field and are also ranked 5th in that category.

Defensively the Warriors are ranked 4th allowing 47.8 points per game, they are 12th in rebounding averaging 25.2 allowing opponents 15.1 rebounds per game for a plus 10.1 advantage.

The Warriors are led in scoring by Carter Clark with 14.4 per game, Clark also leads the team in rebounds with 39, 5 other Warriors also have 30 plus rebounds, Clark leads the team in steals with 18, 4 other Warriors have double-digit steals, Clark also leads the team in assists with 26, again a team effort as well as 5 other Warriors also have double-digit assists.

Court Gonsalez averages 12.8 points per game. Brock Douzenis has 11.6, and Kade Weber with 11.4 points per game.
