Construction Will Cause Delays

Construction near a popular rock climbing area will cause additional traffic delays for a couple of weeks this month just west of Cody.
Work on the parking lot near the climbing area between the tunnels on Highway 14/16/20 is scheduled to begin next Monday, April 9th. Work includes replacement of guardrail, new curb and gutter, and paving and chip sealing of the parking area.
Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Todd Frost of Cody said between April 16th and April 30th, the contractor will have one-way traffic with 24-hour flagging, a single-lane roadway and a pilot car due to the unprotected tunnel ends and steep drop-offs where the curb and gutter, double gutter and median are being placed. He says there will be a delay of 10 minutes on that project – but between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. the delays will be 20 minutes due to the rockfall mitigation project west of the tunnels.
Frost adds that all work, except paving and chip sealing, is required to be complete by April 30, so as not to interfere with traffic driving to Yellowstone National Park. Completion of the project in its entirety is scheduled for June 30th.
