Contractor’s Licenses Required in Lovell

The town of Lovell is making sure their residents are protected against unscrupulous contractors that might try to take advantage of the work that’s available after last week’s major storm.
The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office posted a notice from the Town of Lovell that says that the Town Council passed an emergency ordinance that will require contractors to register and receive a contractor’s license before they can perform work in city limits.
The move came after Town officials met with representatives from the State of Wyoming’s Department of Homeland Security and the Wyoming Insurance Department, who recommended that the Town adopt an ordinance regulating and licensing contractors.
Officials say that this move will protect the citizens from contractors that are not insured or qualified to do repairs after the storm that hit last Thursday, which did severe damage to homes and businesses. Residents are urged to make sure that the contractor making repairs on their property is licensed, and local contractors are advised to contact Town Hall for information on how to become licensed.
The storm that hit Thursday evening brought heavy gusts and wind-driven, golf ball sized hail, which uprooted trees, tore holes in siding and smashed windows throughout the area.
