Council Approves Summer Street Closures

Written by on May 18, 2018

The Cody City Council this week approved three street closures for events from Memorial Day weekend through September.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council granted the closure of 12th Street in front of the Irma hotel for the summer-long Wild Bunch Gunfighters performance. Event coordinator Kenny Martin had requested the closure to be from 5-7 from Monday through Saturday, but Council members felt that that it would be more fair to the businesses on 12th Street to keep the street open through 5:30. Martin told the Council that he understood.

In another request, Council granted the Irma Hotel permission to close down that same section of 12th Street for a Morgan car show on May 30th from 4-9 p.m.
And the Council gave permission to the VFW auxiliary to close 10th Street from Sheridan to Beck Avenue on June 30th for their first ever Family Freedom Festival. The celebration in City Park will not only showcase what services the Auxiliary provides, but will also give organizations in the community an opportunity to set up booths and games for kids. Organizers Sandy Pederson and Asha Lansing say that money brought in at the hamburger and hot dog stand will go towards the purchase of a service animal for a local veteran.
