County Votes to Vacate Old Willwood Bridge

Written by on June 22, 2017

The old bridge at the Willwood Dam is no longer a Park County concern.
The County Commissioners Tuesday voted to begin the process of vacating the right of way for the old bridge at the Willwood dam. The 100 year old bridge was determined to be functionally obsolete by the Wyoming Department of Transportation and structurally deficient, and has been replaced with a new structure just downstream from the old one.
Brian Edwards with the County Engineer’s Office told the Commissioners that concrete barriers will be installed to help keep unauthorized traffic off the bridge. Lee Livingston, Chairman of the Commission, said that there have been instances in which people have moved the temporary barriers that had been put up by the County.

Livingston pointed out that the bridge serves no purpose for the county anymore, so the Commissioners will be sending a letter to the Bureau of Reclamation stating the County’s intent to vacate that right of way. However, access will still be available for utilities and irrigation district employees.
