School Receives Help to Pay for Pool Access

After months of deliberation, Park County School District 6 trustees have committed to pay fees to the City of Cody to allow access to the swimming pool at the Paul Stock Aquatics and Recreation Center for another year.
At Tuesday evening’s School Board meeting, trustees voted to pay $25,000 to the City of Cody for use of the pool and other City facilities. However, because the annual payment to the City has been set at $40,250, the Shoshone Recreation District is contributing a one-time payment of $15,250.
According to school officials, the school board will continue to work with the City throughout the upcoming school year regarding pool use fees for following years.
The pool use fees have been a topic of discussion for several months, as the school board struggles to trim its budget by almost a million dollars. A downturn in the mineral royalties and other energy-related funds to the state of Wyoming has severely impacted the amount of money available for the state’s public education system.
