A local couple is in legal trouble after allegedly stealing a snowblower in Cody, and being caught on camera in the act.
According to an affidavit filed in Park County Circuit Court, the report came in Thursday afternoon from a homeowner who said he returned from a bicycle ride to find his snowblower missing, which had been parked behind a camper near his garage. However, he said he had a video surveillance system, which captured the thieves on camera.
After viewing the footage, Cody Police Lieutenant Jason Stafford identified the person in the video as Cody resident James Andrews, who currently had an active warrant out of Park County District Court, as well as taking note of the make and model of the vehicle that the stolen snowblower was loaded into.
The affidavit states that Lieutenant Stafford came upon a vehicle matching that description, and stopped the car, in which James Andrews was a passenger. After being confronted with the video surveillance that proved he stole the snowblower, Andrews confessed that his wife, Starlynn, was driving the vehicle at the time. During questioning, Starlynn admitted to helping steal the snowblower, adding that they then dumped it in an alley in Powell.
James Andrews was arrested on charges of larceny, as well as for the active warrant; and his wife Starlynn was arrested for Criminal Conspiracy.
