Cody Cubs went into a jammed packed weekend where they had four games in two days planned
On Saturday the Cubs got a visit from the Laurel Dodgers for what would be their home opener on the season. The first game of the two-bill the Cody Cubs would win 14-4 and had help from the bats in what was an incredible 3rd inning on offense for the Cubs. They were able to smash through eleven base hits to score 13 runs in the inning. Every Cody Cub went around the diamond except for Tristan Blatt who could get to home plate.
Game two on Saturday was a different story however as they suffered the first loss on the season. The Cubs would lose the game 9-4.
They would not get on base until the third inning where Trey Thomasson , Wyatt Carlson, Ben Reinker, and Chance Moss were the only batters to make it around the bases in the game. The Cubs finished their home opener one and one heading to Sunday’s games.
Sunday was supposed to be a double header in Billings to play the Halos but Mother Nature had different ideas as a downpour ensued in the middle of the 1st game. It was the fifth inning before the coaches and umpires called the game due to the weather.
The Cubs would score nine runs in the first inning of that game alone. The Cubs got on based any way they wanted to. Hits , runs, hit by pitch, and walking. The Cubs would go on to win the game 16-0 after the game was called off.
Cody goes 2-1 on the weekend to improve to 4-1 in the season. Cody travels to Jackson where they will see their first nine inning games of the season against Galatin Valley on Saturday.
