Ed Buchanan Named Secretary of State

Written by on March 2, 2018

Governor Matt Mead has made his decision.
Torrington attorney Edward Buchanan has been chosen to fill the Secretary of State vacancy. Buchanan was one of three candidates the Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee sent to Governor Mead to replace Ed Murray, who resigned from office on February 9th.
The other two nominees presented by the Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee were Darin Smith of Cheyenne and Richard George of Cody. A release from the Governor’s Office noted that the Governor interviewed each of the three candidates Tuesday, after receiving input from people across the state.
The Governor is quoted as saying that he was particularly impressed that Ed ran for this Office in the last election, that he has served in the legislature and was elected Speaker of the House, and in the course of his career has had many interactions with the office of Secretary of State.
Governor Mead expressed his appreciation for the other two nominees, saying that each of them is committed to serve and committed to Wyoming.
