A pair of convicted criminals who walked away from pre-release centers in Wyoming and Montana have died from injuries suffered in a car crash in California.
One of the deceased is 37-year-old Jerome Dunks of Thermopolis, who had been sentenced for wrongful receipt or disposing of property in Hot Springs County, and has been wanted by law enforcement for leaving the Casper Re-Entry Center without authorization earlier this month.
Officials say 35-year-old Erica Pearce of Laurel, Montana, died soon after the April 17 crash near Oakley, California; and Dunks died several days later.
Dunks was wanted by law enforcement for walking away from the Casper Re-Entry Center and stealing a Honda Civic while purportedly on a test drive from a Casper car dealership. And KULR8-TV reports Pearce was wanted for leaving a pre-release center in Billings, where she had been serving time for assault on a peace officer, criminal endangerment and drug possession.
