Events Celebrate Veterans This Weekend

Written by on June 29, 2018

Veterans are being honored this year in the days leading up to the Cody community’s Stampede celebration.
Tonight, a concert at Monster Lake will benefit local veterans, thanks to the focus of the organization Downrange Warriors. Their mission, according to organizer Todd Bray, is to help former soldiers re-integrate into civilian society.

The concert tonight will feature Madison Rising, an American Patriotic rock band led by veterans. The opening act is a country band from the Black Hills, Brandon Jones. All ticket sales and proceeds from the sale of promotional items will go directly towards providing tools to overcome PTSD and host events for local veterans in the Big Horn Basin through Downrange Warriors and Got Your Six Outdoors.
Additionally, the Cody VFW Auxiliary will be hosting a Family Freedom Festival at City Park tomorrow, and according to organizers, it will showcase all that the VFW Auxiliary does to help local veterans. The event, which is being put on in partnership with other community organizations, will feature games for kids, food booths and information about the services offered by the VFW Auxiliary.
