Face Mask Mandate in Park County?
Written by dariandudrick on November 17, 2020
Park County could have a face mask mandate in place as soon as Wednesday, county health officials said Tuesday morning on “Speak Your Piece with Darian Dudrick.”
Dr. Aaron Billin, health officer, and Bill Crampton, nursing manager, said the order is awaiting approval from the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office and is likely to happen because it’s similar to at least one other county order already approved by the AG.
Both Billin and Crampton expressed concerns about the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the potential impact they could have on the small hospitals in Park County. (Listen to today’s SYP in the archives.) archives
If approved, the mandate would include requiring face masks inside all buildings in Park County, including businesses. Enforcement was not specified, although fines could be issued in severe cases.
In addition to Park County, Natrona, Sweetwater, Sheridan, Lincoln, Goshen, Sublette and Hot Springs counties have pending requests for face mask orders.
If all eight are approved, nearly half of Wyoming’s 23 counties would have a mask order in place.
