Written by Cole Havens on March 10, 2022
The Cody Fillies would open up play at the Class 4A State Basketball Championship Tournament, on Thursday, with a 51-27 win over the Campbell County Lady Camels.
The game got off to a quick start with both teams combining to score 30 first quarter points, the Lady Camels would lead after the first frame, 17-13.
The defensive intensity picked up in the second with only two points scored in the entire quarter and that was Ally Boysen at the free throw line.
The Fillies would trail by two at the half, 17-15.
Everything change in the 3rd quarter. Molly Hays would drop in the first six of her game high 22, to open the frame and the Fillies never looked back, their patented defense leading the way cause havoc and force Campbell County into to many miscues to overcome. The Fillies built a 32-22 advantage after three and the rest was history.
Cody outscored Campbell County 36-10 in the second halft.
With the win, the Fillies earned their 23rd victory of the season. That’s the most wins by a Cody Filly Basketball team in program history.
Molly Hays led the way with 22 points.
