Filly Tennis Set for Postseason Run

It was another stellar year for the Cody Tennis teams. The Fillies finished out the regular season with an 8-2 overall record. Now they get set for postseason play. Cody will host the Conference tournament this weekend. The number 1 doubles team of Ashlynn Staggs and Soffy Anderson have been a catalyst for Filly Tennis all year and Ashlynn talks about the lessons she’s learned from previous teams and how to apply that this weekend.

“Just keep working hard. Having fun and cheering each other on cause it’s definitely different from what I was used to in Middle School and the first part of High School. So just cheering each other on and keeping each other up.”

Soffy is eager to host this year’s Conference tourney as she was an alternate her freshman year the last time Cody hosted. Soffy goes on to talk about this week’s preparation at practice.

“Going into regionals has definitely been a step up. We want to make sure that we’re super focused and we’re working really hard. Particularly Ash and I have been working on some different strategies that we can use to play some of the teams just because we’ve kind of been using the clear cut basics. They’ve been working for us but we’re just thinking of ways to switch it up that maybe could give us a step up above our opponents.”
