Fire School Kicks Off Cody Tourist Season

Written by on May 5, 2017

It’s the first weekend in May – and for Cody residents, that means Fire School is in town.

For over 40 years Cody has been host to hundreds of firefighters and their families from around the region, who will receive training that organizers say many can’t get in their hometowns. Jerry Parker, Administrator for Park County Fire District 2 in Cody, says that for many local businesses, Fire School kicks off summer, bringing added revenue to hotels, restaurants and retail stores.

Parker says training classes for the firefighters will include extrication, air packs, wildland firefighting, leadership, off road driving, and other topics.

The event ends Sunday.
