Chamber Takes Over Fireworks Show | Big Horn Basin Media

Fireworks Show Now Chamber’s Responsibility

Written by on May 4, 2018

For more than 20 years, the Cody Skylighters volunteer group has raised money to put on the fireworks show that caps off the community’s annual Stampede celebration.
But that era has come to an end. The Skylighters have disbanded – and according to Cody Chamber Director Tina Hoebelheinrich, the torch has been passed to their organization to create a memorable show for locals and visitors alike.

Hoebelheinrich says that the Skylighters raised all the money, produced the show, bought the munitions and then shot the show. When they realized they could not continue, they approached several groups in town to take up the mantle, and she says Mayor Matt Hall eventually brought the idea to the Chamber.
Hoebelheinrich says that they have secured some funding through the City of Cody, and the Shoshone Rec District, but are seeking donations to put on the show, which will cost $30,000. She says donations can be made either at the chamber, or people can log on to the GoFundMe site that has been set up, a link to which is on the Chamber’s website or their Facebook page.
