Former Cody Resident Riding Out Irma at Home in Sarasota

A former Cody woman and her family are preparing to sit out Hurricane Irma in their well-prepared home in Florida.
Danae Anceso, her husband and their two small children were unable to leave their home in Sarasota due to mechanical and other logistical issues, so made the difficult decision to stay put. However, growing up in Wyoming, Anceso says they are as prepared as they can be.

Anceso’s oldest daughter, Anastasia, is a college student in Sheridan. Anceso says that she and her daughter are in regular contact through texting and other means of communication. She adds that she will be updating her Facebook page as often as she can while there is still power and cell service.
Hurricane Irma is expected to hit the southern tip of Florida by 2 p.m. Sunday. As a category 5 hurricane, it is one of the strongest storms in history, according to the New York Times.
