Free Lifetime National Park Passes To Be Granted To Veterans and Gold Star Families

Written by on November 10, 2020

Just in time for Veterans Day, here’s some good news.  If you’re a veteran or part of a gold star family, you will now be able to get into all national parks for free.

According to NPR, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that all U.S. veterans and Gold Star Families will now be able to get in free to all national parks, wildlife refuges, and other federal lands.

This comes as a well deserved thank you for all that our U.S. veterans have done to preserve this country’s freedom.  In the age of the coronavirus, everyone is looking to explore the outdoors more and this will make it much easier for veterans and gold star families all across the country.

The secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt had this to say about the announcement – “With the utmost respect and gratitude, we are granting Veterans and Gold Star Families free access to the iconic and treasured lands they fought to protect starting this Veterans Day and every single day thereafter,”

The America the Beautiful pass normally costs $80, so this will make it much easier for veterans and their families to access these parks and lands even if they are in a lower-income bracket.

In order to get access, all veterans and Gold Star families must do is show identification that they were enlisted in the armed forces or the U.S. National Guard and Reserves.  More detailed information about how to go about this process can be found in the link below.
