Grizzly Relocated After Lingering on Monument Hill Road

Written by on June 6, 2018

A local family is grateful to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department after a grizzly bear became a nuisance on their property on Monument Hill Road this past week.
Sam Hanna resides on the rural road off the Belfry Highway and says that grizzly bears are often sighted on their property. But he says this one decided it was going to stick around.

Hanna says that the bear didn’t do any damage, but after seeing the bear in broad daylight on Monday, they decided to get Game and Fish involved. Dusty Lasseter, bear specialist with the Cody office, evaluated the situation and determined that they would set up a trap to relocate the bear.
Hanna says that within eight hours of setting up the trap, the bear was caught. And Lasseter reports that the sub-adult male was relocated to the Bailey Creek drainage about 11 miles northwest of Moran Junction.
