Gunwerks Facility to Break Ground Tomorrow

A multi-million-dollar economic development project is set to break ground in Cody this week.
The new Gunwerks facility, which has been funded by a $3 million dollar grant and $3 million dollar loan through the Wyoming Business Council, will break ground tomorrow at its new site on Blackburn Street.
James Klessens with Forward Cody says the project can move forward now that a contract has been signed with the lowest bidder, Sletten Construction. Klessens says that construction is scheduled to begin next month.
Klessens points out that the company has already hired some of those 66 jobs, so the company is, in his words, “busting at the seams” at their current location on the east end of town. So much so that Gunwerks has moved its administrative staff and a few other positions to rented offices in the Park County Building off Stampede Avenue.
The public is invited to the groundbreaking on Tuesday afternoon at 201 North Blackburn. Also in attendance at the ceremony will be Wyoming’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow, State Treasurer Curt Meier and State Auditor Kristi Racines.
