Hemp Production Could Provide Boost to Ag Producers

Written by on March 8, 2019

Gov. Mark Gordon has signed into law a measure that puts Wyoming on a viable path for industrial hemp production.

Gordon signed House Bill 171 on Wednesday. The legislation allows for hemp to be grown in the state, along with the production and sale of hemp-based products, including ones containing CBD oil.

Christine Bekes with the Powell Economic Partnership said the ability to grow hemp could provide growers with a new cash crop.

Bekes points out that the growing market for industrial hemp, and the potential for the state to become a manufacturing hub for hemp-derived products, will be an immense benefit to the agricultural community.
