High Housing Costs in Jackson Concern Game and Fish

Written by on April 29, 2019

High housing costs in Jackson have the commission that oversees the Wyoming Game and Fish Department considering moving its workforce out of the region.

The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports Commissioner Patrick Crank told his colleagues on Wednesday that the agency can no longer afford to live in the “land of the billionaires.”

Wyoming’s Economic Analysis Division reported five years ago that Teton County housing cost 157 percent of the state average. The expense of rent and mortgages today has jumped to 213 percent of the Equality State’s mean, more than double the average.

Game and Fish Deputy Director of Internal Operations John Kennedy closed the discussion committing to starting soon on exit proposals.

Regional supervisor Brad Hovinga was given no specific deadline for generating a proposal.
