It Starts With Food

When it comes to eating healthy, there are a lot of confusing messages out there. But from my standpoint as a nutritionist, it’s all about getting back to basics! Real, whole foods. I’m Wendy Corr, and in today’s Wellness Tip, I’ll tell you about a book that walks you through the whys and hows of eating real, whole food.
As a nutritionist, a big part of my job is research. And there are a lot of books and blogs that promote fad diets or junk science – these fads may result in weight loss, but at a cost to your overall health.
Then there’s the Whole30 movement. I had heard a lot about the Whole30 approach to eating, and I had done some looking into the concept – I found it to be very compatible with my own nutrition training and a good recommendation for people who are looking to improve their eating habits.
But THEN, I started reading the book, called “It Starts With Food”. Okay, listening to the book – on a side note, I love audiobooks, they fit my busy lifestyle perfectly! But I have to say, I am COMPLETELY impressed with the information presented in the book! The authors, Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, describe in words we can understand and relate to, why processed food is awful and why whole, natural foods are best!
The book outlines a clear, balanced, sustainable plan to change the way you eat forever. It includes success stories from people who chose to eat whole foods—eliminating all processed foods and sugars- for 30 days, and who found amazing improvements in sleep, energy levels, mood, and self-esteem.
Even more amazing, many people have reported the almost “magical” elimination of various symptoms, diseases, and conditions in those same 30 days, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, acne, psoriasis, chronic fatigue, asthma, allergies, migraines … the list goes on!
With my training and experience, the testimonials in this book are right on track with what others have experienced by eliminating processed foods from their diets and embracing a whole food lifestyle.
I highly recommend this book, either in the audio form or the old-fashioned page-turning variety. If you are looking for a starting point to change your eating habits, this book will get you headed in the right direction!
