Jobless Rates High in Bighorn Basin

The Big Horn Basin has among the highest jobless rates in the state.
In a report released by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, the highest jobless rates in January occurred in Fremont County at 5.9 percent, Park County at 5.7 percent and Big Horn County at 5.6 percent. Washakie County was next in line at 5 percent.
However, overall, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.1 percent in December to 4.0 percent in January, which matches the U.S. unemployment rate.
In January, Teton County and Niobrara County tied for the lowest unemployment rate in the state, each at 3.0 percent.
