Strongmen Film in Cody

Come to downtown Cody on Saturday to see the strongest men in the world.
That’s what a film crew from the History Channel is inviting locals to do – they are bringing four of the strongest human beings on earth to Cody this week to capture feats of might for an upcoming television show called “The Strongest Man in History.”
Donald Meyerson with the production company Entertainment One appeared before the Cody City Council yesterday to request permission to shut down one block of Sheridan Avenue in front of the Irma Hotel Saturday to film a competition. He says the public is invited to cheer on the strongmen.
Meyerson told the Council that filming in Cody was fitting, as one of the featured performers in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show was a Scottish strongman. And Claudia Wade with the Park County Travel Council adds that the choice to film here in Cody gives a much-needed boost to the community’s profile.
The crew will be here from today through next Tuesday, according to Meyerson, and will perform feats such as lifting a piano and carrying it like a backpack. In addition to the location outside the Irma hotel, they will be filming inside the Irma, as well as at Old Trail Town, Monster Lake Ranch, and Buffalo Bill State Park.
