Lady Warrior Basketball Split Against Mountain View And Lyman

The Lady Warriors Basketball team lost one and won one against 2 of the top 5 teams in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball over the weekend here in Worland.

Friday the Lady Warriors played The number 3 ranked team in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball Mountain View Lady Buffs who were 15-1 before the weekend.

Worland would come out of the first period with a 17-14 lead.

The Lady Buffs would take a 7-point lead into the half 28-21.

The lady Warriors would lose the game 63-43, but the 20-point loss was not what the game looked like.

Worland was able to hold Lady Buff’s leading scorer, Sophomore McKinlee Covolo to under her season average allowing only 11 points.

The Kenison sisters would carry the scoring load for Mountain View both hitting key shots in key situations.

For the Lady Warriors Junior Manaia Peterson lead the team in scoring with 10, followed by Sophomore MacKenzie Ray and Junior Nayelli Aguayo both with 8. Junior Taylor Simmons would add 7 points for Worland.

Saturday morning the Lady Warriors would face another challenge in the number 4 ranked Lyman Lady Eagles and their 12-2 record.

Lyman led by 1 at the half 29-28.

Worland would regain the lead and end the 3rd period up by 5, 43-38.

The Lady Warriors would go up by 16 early in the fourth period. Peterson would foul out and the Lady Eagles would take advantage of her absence and close the gap by going on run that closed the game to 6 points.

Worland was able to hold and would get a 57-51 win over Lyman.

Junior Yahaira Aguayo led the team in scoring with 11 followed by Nayelli and Peterson each with 10 points, Junior Adisyn Rollins added 7 points including a 3-pointer.
