Lady Warriors Basketball Play Conference Away Games This Weekend

The Lady Warriors are coming off the biggest win of their season with the 57-51 win over Lyman.

Worland is 4-11 overall with wins against Wind River, Rocky Mountain View, Thermopolis, and Lyman.

They are currently 3rd in the Northwest Quad.

3A Northwest

Powell 9-6/3-0

Lovell 12-5/2-1

Worland 4-11/1-2

Thermopolis 2-14/0-3

There are only 5 regular season games remaining before Regionals.

Friday the Lady Warriors will travel to Powell to start the second half of conference play.

The Powell Lady Panthers are undefeated in the conference and beat the Lady Warriors in Worland 54-35 back on January 21st.

This will be the second meeting of the season for the two teams.

In common opponents, the Lady Panthers lost to Rocky Mountain 51-50, and Cody 55-13 in Cody and 65-28 in Powell.

The Lady Panthers have also played Pinedale twice the first a 59-39 loss, the second a 43-22 win.

Worland beat Rocky Mountain 36-31, lost to Cody 53-24, and lost to Pinedale 60-46.

Saturday the Lady Warriors will head to Lovell and face the Lady Bulldogs.

Lovell’s conference loss was to Powell 45-36, but they beat Powell 44-24 in the Big Horn Classic which is a none conference game.

This will be the third meeting between Worland and Lovell.

The Lady Bulldogs have beaten the Lady Warriors two other times. 48-26 and 48-26, both games in Worland.

Common opponents include Powell, Thermopolis, and non-conference Pinedale which Lovell beat 32-27.

Worland has the 15th-ranked offense in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball averaging 35.2 points per game and a shooting percentage of 30.8% which is 13th.

Defensively the Lady Warriors are ranked 134th overall allowing 48.1 points per game and are 15th in rebounding with 24.3 per game.

Powell has the 10th-ranked offense in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball averaging 43.4 points per game and a shooting percentage of 39.2%  4th in 3A.

Defensively the Lady Panthers are ranked 6th overall allowing 39.3 points per game and are 11th in rebounding with 27.5 per game.

Lovell has the 12th-ranked offense in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball averaging 42.9 points per game and a shooting percentage of 34.4% which is 10th.

Defensively the Lady Bulldogs are ranked 7th overall allowing 39.6 points per game and are 6th in rebounding with 31.8 per game.

The Lady Warriors are led in scoring by Junior Yahaira Aguayo with 9.1 points per game followed by Junior Nayelli Aguayo with 6.4 per game.

Nayelli leads the team in steals with 44 and 38 assists, Yahaira has 38 assists and also leads the team in 3-point shooting with 14 for 59 at 24% from the field.

Junior Manaia Peterson leads the team in rebounds with 9.1 per game.

Sophomore MacKenzie Ray leads the team from the free-throw line with 21 for 25 at 84%.

The Powell Lady Panthers are led in scoring by Junior Addy Thorington with 10.2 points per game she also leads the team in rebounding with 5.8 per game.

The teams second leading scorer is Maddie Campbell who also leads the team in assists with 28 and has 30 steals, Campbell also shoots 38 for 15 from the 3-point line for 39%.

The Lovell Lady Bulldogs are led in scoring by Kallie Owens with 10.3 per game Kallie also leads the team in rebounding with 8.6 rebounds per game, Owens has 138 boards so far this season.

Amee Newman leads the team in steals with 56 and has 29 steals this season. Lily Edwards shoots 21 for 69 from behind the arch for 30%.

The winners of these games will likely determine their seeding as the teams prepare for Regionals to be held in Mountain View this season.
