Lady Warriors Take Third Seed Into State

Written by on March 8, 2021

The Lady Warriors insure a spot in the Wyoming 3A  Girls Basketball State Championship Tournament. Worland started post season with a  13-4 record having won six in a row that included a 36-34 win over a Wyoming top ranked team in the Lander Valley Lady Tigers.

Worland would first take on a Lovell team that the Lady Warriors had already defeated twice in the regular season. 62-25 and 52-23. Ask any coach they will all say beating a team three times in a season is a very tall order.

The opening round of the Wyoming 3A Quad Championships was a elimination game. No matter your regular season record. Failure or success. No game mattered more.

Thirteen from both Tymberlynn Crippen and Darla Hernandez and ten from Denali Jones would get the 49-39 win over the Lady Bulldogs and grant the Lady Warriors access to the Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball State Championships in Casper March 10th and 11th.

The remaining games of the Quad and Regional Tournaments would determine the seedings for the State Championships.

A tough loss the the Lander Valley Lady Tigers 47-46 at the Quad Championships in Lovell, Wyoming would be the Lady Warriors first loss in seven games. The loss would put them into a spot that would determine the 3rd and 4th seeds at State.

With a loss, and a 4th seed in the West. That team would draw the number one team in Wyoming 3A Girls Basketball and undefeated Douglas Lady Bearcats. The University of Wyoming commit  Allyson Fertig and her 22.8 points per game average would be in order.

Mountain View scored three points in the opening period against the Lady Warriors. Seven in the first half. The score was 22-7 at the end of the second period.

The third period would see the Lady Buffalos score nineteen and close the score to 33-26 at the end of the third. The Lady Warrior defense would again shut the door and give up just five points in the final period. Tymberlynn Crippen would lead Worland in scoring with 15 points.

The Lady Warriors would win the game, in Powell,  over Mountain View 44-31 and go into State as the 3rd seed.

Worland will face Torrington in the opening round of the State Championships. The Lady Warriors beat Torrington, in Torrington 48-44 back on December 18th in the second game of the season. The Lady Trailblazers are 11-10 overall and 3-3 in their Quad.

The game will be the first game of the Wyoming 3A State Championships. A 9am start at Casper College. You can listen live on KWOR 104.7fm/1340am or online at mybighornbasin.com
