Man Arrested for Harassing Bison in Yellowstone

Written by on August 3, 2018

The Yellowstone visitor who was caught on video taunting a bison in a traffic jam has been arrested.
At about 10:45 pm yesterday, Glacier National Park rangers apprehended 55 year old Raymond Reinke from Pendleton, Oregon. According to a news release from Yellowstone National Park, Reinke had been traveling to multiple national parks over the last week, and encountered law enforcement in both Grand Teton National Park, arrested for being drunk and disorderly on July 28th, and in Yellowstone, where he was cited on July 31st for failure to wear a seatbelt and was argumentative and apparently intoxicated. Rangers say that they believe that it was after the seat belt incident that Reinke encountered and harassed the bison.
Yellowstone Superintendent Dan Wenk expressed his appreciation for the rangers in Glacier and Grand Teton National Parks, and the collaboration that resulted in Reinke’s arrest. Reinke was scheduled to appear in court today on the violation.
