Motorcycle Crash Cause Unknown

Written by on June 21, 2017

All lanes of traffic between Cody and Powell were shut down for about a half hour yesterday morning because of a motorcycle wreck.
However, the Wyoming Highway Patrol has not yet determined the cause of the crash.
Trooper Rodney Miears with the Wyoming Highway Patrol said that the crash occurred at about 8:20 a.m. at milepost 13 on US Highway 14A near the Heart Mountain Relocation Center between Cody and Powell. He said a caller reported that a motorcycle had been hit by a semi. Miears says that life flight was on scene when he arrived, a motorcycle was on the south side of the road and there was an individual in the middle of the road who was being attended to by emergency medical services.
Miears says that according to witnesses, at some point prior to the crash, three semis came off of Road 19 headed north. However, Miears says that how the semis and motorcycle are involved, is a mystery.

Miears says that somehow the motorcycle rider lost control when the semis entered the highway – but the witness statements are conflicting. He says that the three semi drivers gave their statements – but two independent eyewitnesses have another story.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Highway Patrol Dispatch at (307) 777-4321 and ask to speak with Trooper Rodney Miears.
