Mysterious Grave Prompts Investigation

The Park County Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information on a possible gravesite discovered on private property in the Polecat Bench area.

The site was discovered on August 12^th by the current property owner.

Lance Mathess with the Sheriff’s office says the grave appears to have been created some time ago. Cadaver dogs were brought to the scene and indicated human remains may still be buried there.

Mathess says it is legal to bury human remains on private property so long as you own it, BUT you must take any human remains with you once you leave or sell the land.
