The Northwest College Rodeo program will be honored in Billings later this month for an award that highlights great Montana rodeo.
The program in Powell has been selected as a 2019 Montana Pro Rodeo Hall and Wall of Fame Great Montana College Rodeo and will be honored at a banquet Saturday, Jan. 26, in Billings.
This organization is the largest provider of college scholarships for young men and women who plan to rodeo collegiately in the nation. NWC Rodeo Coach Del Nose was one of the first inductees, honored in 2001, the year the organization was founded.
The Hall of Fame was founded to honor Montana’s professional rodeo champions. A brick and granite “Wall of Fame” was constructed in the shadow of an 18-foot bronze statue of Billings’ six-time world champion Dan Mortensen. Mortensen, an alum of Northwest College, earned the Distinguished Alumnus award in 1994.
