Organize and Conquer!

Do you find that when your outside surroundings are chaotic and disorganized, you feel stressed and frazzled? On the other hand, when your outer world is orderly, achieving your goals is more manageable. I’m Wendy Corr, and in today’s wellness tip, I’ll point you towards some tools you can use to reach your health goals.
Having lost a total of 70 pounds and then maintaining that weight loss for the last 9 years, I understand the struggles of losing weight and maintaining. It’s tough! While it has gotten easier for me over the years, it still requires careful planning and effort on my part every day. So if you are starting on a new weight loss plan, do everything in your power to organize your outside world.
Start with a food tracker. Research shows that keeping both a food log and an exercise log are the top ways to maintain physical activity and healthy eating over a lifetime. This works! An app like My Fitness Pal is also a great tool to use. A tweak to your food log might be a fruit and veggie tracker. If you or your family have trouble getting in five servings a day, this might help motivate you!
Take some time every week to plan your meals, schedule your exercise and prioritize your to-do list. If you get these areas of your life outlined, you will feel much less overwhelmed and more empowered!
When you go shopping, base your choices off of a clean eating food list. These printable lists can be found on the internet – I hand one out to each of my nutrition clients during our first meeting. If you only choose the foods off this list, you will be guaranteed to make healthy choices!
And when it comes to fitness, plan to take small, baby steps. For example, your first week, if you plan to walk 15 minutes a day, then add another five minutes the next week. Keep track, and you’ll be able to show tangible results that your healthy habits are paying off!
