Other Events Tag On To Stampede Celebration

The 99th Annual Cody Stampede celebration is right around the corner.
And the celebration, which for many years was just a four-day event, is growing. Other organizations are adding functions on to the days before the rodeos and parades, extending the opportunities for visitors to stay in town a little longer.
This Friday, Downrange Warriors is hosting an outdoor concert at Monster Lake as a fundraiser to help veterans who have difficulty re-integrating into civilian life. And the Cody Chamber’s Golf Tournament will be held the same evening.
The next day, the Cody VFW Auxiliary is putting on a Family Freedom Festival in Cody City Park from noon to four, which will roll into the Stampede celebration’s first rodeo event – the Cody/Yellowstone Extreme Bulls Competition.
Mike Darby with the Cody Stampede Board says in addition to the evening’s showcase, this year a new event will add to the rodeo action – the junior NFR will be going on during the day on June 30th at the neighboring Foundation arena, with the winners showing off for the crowds during the evening performance.
Cherain Richmond with the Stampede Office says that there are four age divisions in the Junior NFR, ranging from ages 10 to 18, and they will be competing during the day beginning at 11 a.m.
Tickets to all the rodeo events are available at the Stampede Office on 12th Street, or online at cody stampede rodeo .com
