A photojournalist and multicultural speaker will be hosted at multiple venues around Park County in the next week to shed light on the questions local residents may have regarding Muslim culture.
Robert Azzi is a photojournalist, columnist and public speaker who lives in New Hampshire. An Arab American Muslim, he writes on issues of identity, conflict, and Islam, particularly as they apply in the Middle East and the Global South.
Several organizations in Park County are sponsoring four different programs by Azzi in the coming week. Harriet Bloom-Wilson, who has helped set Azzi’s schedule for his visit, told listeners of KODI’s Partyline show that his message is one of understanding.
Christ Episcopal Church in Cody will host a seminar titled “Ask A Muslim Anything” on Sunday at 4 p.m.; Azzi will address the journalism class at Cody High School on Monday, as well as lead a presentation on the history of Muslims in America at Northwest College; he will present to photography classes at Northwest College on Tuesday and Thursday; and his time in Park County will end next Thursday evening with a presentation at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, telling the stories of minority groups from their perspective.
