Scholarship Fund to Honor Missing Cody Man

Written by on September 18, 2019

A scholarship fund has been created to honor a young Cody man who went missing while guiding a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon in 2015.

The Morgan Heimer Memorial Scholarship Fund has been created to allow students to study for a semester at sea.

Morgan, a 2011 graduate of Cody High School, was on day 6 of an 8-day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon when he disappeared on June 2nd of 2015. Volunteers actively searched for weeks, but no sign of him has ever turned up.

His mother, Lisa, says they are resigned to the idea that they will never see their son again. But she says they are honoring his memory through a fund that will help other young people achieve their dreams.

Lisa says the Scholarship, which is hosted by Colorado State University, will be awarded annually to a Wyoming, Montana or Colorado student who has a spirit of adventure, love of people, a desire to experience new cultures, and has financial need for assistance.

Information on how to donate to the fund can be found on a webpage titled the Morgan Heimer Memorial Scholarship Fund.
