Plant a Free Tree from Black Hills Energy

Show your support this Earth Day with Black Hills Energy.

Starting today, Black Hills Energy wants to give the community a chance to show their appreciation for the Earth, nature, and the responsible stewardship of both. To accomplish this, they have partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation’s Energy Saving Trees Initiative to give away over 1,000 free trees. Since the program began in 2014, 6,686 trees have been planted through the partnership, contributing to energy savings, improved air quality, reduced stormwater runoff, and reduced the urban heat island effect. Plus, they’re just beautiful to behold.

A free tree can be reserved on a first come, first served basis. The 3- to 4-foot-tall dormant trees will be delivered directly to anyone who’s asked for one in time for spring planting from May through early June. They’re small enough that they can be planted by an individual, allowing for social distancing to continue while planting commences. It’s a small but positive thing you can do, alone or with your family, to help yourselves and the planet during these difficult times.
