Popular Author Comes to Basin

Written by on March 15, 2019

A popular Wyoming author will be making an appearance in Basin.

Craig Johnson, the author of the Walt Longmire books, will be at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds in Basin at 1 p.m. on March 24th for a book discussion and lunch.

According to an article in the Basin Republican-Rustler, the event is a fundraiser for the Basin Area Chamber, American Legion Post 29, American Legion Auxiliary and Salvation Army/Basin Food Bank.

There will also be a silent auction table to benefit Felines and Friends of Wyoming. The tickets are $15 each and are available for purchase at the Greybull Standard and Basin Republican Rustler.

Johnson is well-known to Wyoming residents for his successful series of books that feature a Sheriff in fictional Absaroka County, Wyoming, and the town of Durant – which local readers will recognize as the town of Buffalo. The books were made into a six-season television series, and spawned an annual celebration in Buffalo called Longmire Days.
